How Does it Work? At just a hair over 3-inches in length and .6 ounces, ResQMe easily fits on to your keychain with a detachable clip. In the event of an entrapment pull the clip away from the product to reveal the cutter (blade). Hook this over a jammed seat belt and pull to free yourself. To activate the window breaker, simply push the black head against a side window until the concealed spring-loaded spike releases and shatters the window. Shattering a side window with ResQMe takes as little as 12 lb Of pressure, meaning that virtually anyone can use it. After reading other posts of the ResQMe not working I decided to test the two that I had. Only ONE worked; the other did absolutely nothing! Wanting to give the manufacturer an opportunity to remedy the issue I contacted them and asked to have the defective item exchanged (nothing else was asked). I was told to send it back to Amazon. When I let them know I tested as a result of reading other posts of the device not working I was told "About the review, this comment is not objective and is not very relevant.". Not "objective" and/or "relevant"? One of the Amazon reviews clearly stated two of six did not work correctly (33% failure rate) and only one of my two worked (50% failure rate). That seems pretty clear, concise and objective. I want you to think about something for a minute. How would you feel if you were ever trapped in a submerged vehicle, go to use this device and it failed to function? If you have a child, factor in the fear of not being able to get them out of the vehicle because this device failed. I would suggest NOT buying this item or purchasing any product from the manufacturer as they do not stand behind their product.

I've had this for over nine years. It's taken a lot of abuse on my keychain, and never fallen off; and I have a LOT of keys on my chain. Contrary to the review from the person saying it didn't break glass--mine has, as well as put some huge dents in "practice and demo" materials. I've had a seatbelt cutter/glass break combo tool in my vehicle for years--but this one is always with me. I hope I never have to use it, but if I come upon an accident when I'm with someone else--it's also with me on my keys. Not to mention NOT having to locate it in my vehicle if the need should arise, and split-second timing may be paramount.

I just tested out the glass breaker part on a jar of baby food and it broke out the whole bottom of the jar. The manual mentions that it is to be used on breaking side windows in a vehicle- not the winshield or tempered glass.

I fortunately have not had the opportunity to use this item so my 5 star rating is based on its potential as a life saver, but it is as important as an airbag for every person driving. I suggest that you test it out on a piece of tempered glass after getting it so that you know how much pressure it takes to release the spike (a lot more than you think) and review the emergency techniques for surviving a submersion. Keep it in your console with an old sock (to put over your hand for when you punch out the glass) and tie a piece of cord on it to make a bracelet. This is not an item you want to drop in a panic when you only have minutes to act.

Regarding the failure rate, we only shared with you that this comment was made by 1 client and for that reason the rate of 33% was not a relevant figure and not very objective.
